When replacement beats repair

Repair makes sense when the slab and the base under it are sound. Replacement makes sense when they aren't. Widespread cracking, sections that rock or settle under weight, crumbling surface across large areas, or a slab that has been patched repeatedly are all signs that the base has failed.

We tell you which situation you're in before recommending anything. If a repair will genuinely hold, we'd rather do the repair.

What removal involves

The old slab is broken out and hauled off site. That's real labor and dump fees, so it's a visible line in your quote rather than a surprise later. Removal also gives us the first honest look at the base — which is usually where the original failure started.

Rebuilding the base

Once the old concrete is gone, we correct the grade, address soft or washed-out areas, and compact the subgrade. Drainage problems that contributed to the failure get fixed at this stage. Pouring a new slab onto the old, failed base just restarts the clock.

The new pour

The new driveway is formed to a planned slope, reinforced for your vehicles, poured, finished to the texture you chose and jointed at planned spacing. You can also change dimensions at this point — widening, adding a parking pad or extending toward the side yard costs far less while the site is already open.
