A retaining wall is a water project

Most failed retaining walls failed because of water, not weight. Saturated soil behind a wall pushes far harder than dry soil. Drainage behind the wall — gravel, drain pipe and an outlet that actually goes somewhere — is what keeps it standing.

That's true at any height. A short wall with no drainage will lean; a taller wall with proper drainage won't.

Finishing the wall

Poured walls can be finished smooth, form-lined, textured or faced. Caps give a finished edge and, on seat walls, something comfortable to sit on. We'll match finishes to the patio or deck the wall borders.
