Diagnose first, patch second

A crack is a symptom. Before we repair anything we work out what caused it, because the same-looking crack can mean normal shrinkage or a base that's washing out. Filling the second kind is money spent twice.

• Hairline shrinkage cracks — cosmetic, usually sealable
• Cracks at joints or corners — often repairable
• Cracks with vertical offset between sides — settlement, needs base work or leveling
• Wide, branching cracks across multiple panels — usually replacement

Surface spalling and scaling

Spalling is the flaking or pitting of the top surface. Isolated areas can be patched or resurfaced. When spalling covers most of the drive, an overlay across the whole slab looks better and lasts longer than a map of patches.

Section replacement

When one or two panels have failed but the rest of the driveway is fine, we can saw-cut and replace just those sections. New concrete won't match old concrete in color, but a clean joint line reads as intentional in a way a patch does not.

Trip hazards and settled edges

Raised or sunken sections at the sidewalk or apron are both a nuisance and a liability. Depending on the cause, the fix is slab leveling, grinding, or replacing the affected section.
